EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Bill would amend the Municipalities Act, 1999 to require employers to provide municipalities with the addresses of their employees to assist in the collection of poll tax.

Be it enacted by the Lieutenant-Governor and House of Assembly in Legislative Session convened, as follows:

        1. Subsection 128(1) of the Municipalities Act, 1999 is repealed and the following substituted:

Employer's duty

   128. (1) An employer in a municipality shall, on demand of the council, give to that council within 2 weeks of the demand the names and addresses of its employees and the dates on which their employment began.
