Minister of Finance and President of Treasury Board

Ordered to be printed by the Honourable House of Assembly

EXPLANATORY NOTES

This Bill would amend the Independent Appointments Commission Act to confirm previously made changes in the Schedule to that Act. Newfoundland and Labrador Regulation 36/16, as amended, made additions to the Schedule. However, by virtue of section 15 of the Act, those additions do not survive beyond the end of the next sitting of the House of Assembly. This Bill would confirm those additions.

Further, the Bill would add a provision that the Independent Appointments Commission Act does not apply to appointments to the Legal Aid Commission under subsection 3(3) of the Legal Aid Act.
