Forest Management Districts Proclamation
under the
Forestry Act
(O.C. 96-179)

Under the authority of section 7 of the Forestry Act and the Subordinate Legislation Revision and Consolidation Act , the Lieutenant-Governor in Council proclaims the areas described in the Schedule to be forest management districts.

                      The Forest Management Areas Proclamation, 1979, Newfoundland Regulation 72/79, the Forest Management Areas Proclamation (No. 2), 1979, Newfoundland Regulation 127/79, and the Proclamation re Forest Management Districts , Newfoundland Regulation 191/92, are repealed.

Schedule

Forest Management District 1

Avalon

All the Crown land within the following area:

Commencing at a point at the mouth of the Come-by-Chance River;

Then following the Come-by-Chance River in a generally northerly direction to its intersection with the Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro transmission line;

Then following the transmission line in an easterly direction across the Trans Canada, Route 1, continuing for approximately 2,529.8 metres more or less until it intersects another transmission line running in a north-south direction;

Then following this second transmission line in a generally southerly direction for 121.9 metres more or less to a point where it intersects a stream;

Then following the stream in a generally northeasterly direction to the mouth of the stream which empties into the salt waters of Bull Arm in Trinity Bay ;

Then following the coastline in a generally southeasterly direction to the most southerly point in Dildo Arm;

Then following the coastline in a generally northeasterly direction to a point known as Grates Point;

Then following the coastline in a generally southerly direction to the most southerly point in South Arm in Holyrood Bay ;

Then following the coastline in a generally northeasterly direction to a point known as Cape St. Francis;

Then following the coastline in a generally southerly direction to a point known as Mistaken Point;

Then following the coastline in a generally westerly and northerly and southerly direction to a point known as Cape Pine ;

Then following the coastline in a generally northerly direction to the most northerly point of Colinet Harbour;

Then following the coastline in a generally southerly direction to a point known as Cape St. Mary's;

Then following the coastline in a generally northerly direction to the point of commencement and including all offshore islands except those in Placentia Bay .

Forest Management District 2

Clarenville

All the Crown land within the following area:

Commencing at a point at the mount of the Come-by-Chance River then following the Come-by-Chance River in a generally northerly direction to its intersection with the Newfoundland and Labrador hydro transmission line;

Then in a generally northwesterly direction along the boundary to a point where it intersects with the southeast corner of the former Reid Lot 96, Grant No. 79R, Vol. 71, Folio 73;

Then in a generally westerly direction to the southern boundary of the Reid Lot 96, 11.3 kilometres more or less;

Then in a generally southwesterly direction a distance of 6.4 kilometres more or less;

Then in a generally southerly direction a distance of 13.7 kilometres more or less;

Then in a generally southwesterly direction a distance of 11.3 kilometres more or less to intersect with the headwaters of that river commonly called Pipers Hole River ;

Then following the Easterly bank of the river to that point where it empties into the head of Placentia Bay near the point of land commonly called Come-by-Chance Point;

Then along the shoreline of the Northern end of Placentia Bay to the point of commencement.

Forest Management District 3

Burin Peninsula

All the Crown land within the following area:

Commencing at Long Harbour Point;

Then proceeding north along the west side of Long Harbour ;

Then continuing inland following the Long Harbour River to the headwaters of a body of water known as Eastern Meelpaeg ;

Then along the west side of the body of water to the southern boundary of a block of land licensed to Price (Nfld.) Ltd., originally licensed to Terra Nova Sulphite Co. Limited and registered in Vol. 7, Folio 5;

Then following the boundary of the block in a generally northeasterly direction to intersect with the headwaters of that river commonly called Pipers Hole River ;

Then following the western boundary of Management District 2 to that point where it empties into Placentia Bay near the point of land commonly called Come-by-Chance Point;

Then continuing in a generally southerly direction to include the large islands known as Merasheen Island , Long Island , and Red Island and other smaller islands offshore;

Then in a generally southwesterly direction along the west side of Placentia Bay to the community known as Point May on the southern tip of the Burin Peninsula;

Then in a generally northeasterly direction along the eastern shore of Fortune Bay to the community known as Terrenceville;

Then continuing in a westerly direction along the northern shore of Fortune Bay to the point of commencement.

Then west along the lot to a point where it meets land licensed to Bowater Nfld. Ltd., Vol. 7, Folio 40;

Then south and then west along the parcel of land to a point where it meets Second Burnt Pond;

Then generally west and southwest along the boundary of Management District 9 to the southeast corner of Bowater Reid Lot 50, Vol. 71, Folio 42, and the railway track;

Then east along the railway track to the north bank of Exploits River ;

Then generally southwest following the boundary of Management District 6 to a point where it meets the boundary of Management District 7 at Crooked Lake ;

Then generally southeast along the boundary of Management District 7 to a point south of Blizzard Pond where it meets a river flowing into Granite Lake;
