CONSOLIDATED NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR REGULATION 821/96

Brigus Municipal Planning Area
under the
Urban and Rural Planning Act
(O.C. 96-173)

Under the authority of section 11 of the Urban and Rural Planning Act and the Subordinate Legislation Revision and Consolidation Act , the Lieutenant-Governor in Council defines the following area as the Brigus Municipal Planning Area.

PLANNING AREA

Beginning at a point on the highwater mark of the northern extremity of South Point on the western shoreline of Conception Bay ;

Then south 27° 00' west 455 metres, more or less, to a high point ;

Then south 50° 00' west 2,450 metres, more or less, to the mouth of an unnamed brook flowing into an unnamed pond;

Then south 53° 00' west 2,450 metres, more or less, to the mouth of an unnamed brook flowing into an unnamed pond;

Then in a southwesterly direction along the eastern bank of the brook, crossing Conception Bay Highway, Route 60, to the northern extremity of an unnamed pond;

Then south 57° 00' west 220 metres, more or less, to a high point, spot elevation 140.9 metres;

Then south 43° 00' west 370 metres, more or less, to a high point ;

Then south 45° 00' west 1,320 metres, more or less, to a high point, spot elevation 180.4 metres;

Then south 10° 30' east 695 metres, more or less, to a high point, spot elevation 180.8 metres;

Then south 46° 30' west 1,468 metres, more or less, to a point, spot elevation 125.6 metres;

Then south 69° 30' west 1,850 metres, more or less, to a high point ;

Then south 58° 30' west 640 metres, more or less, to a high point, horizontal control monument No. 92060, spot elevation 158.50 metres;

Then due west 130 metres, more or less, to a point, that point being on a line perpendicular to and 100 metres from the centre line of Roaches Line, Route 70;

Then in a northeasterly direction along a line parallel to and 100 metres from the centre line of Route 70 to a point, that point being on the eastern bank of Rodgers Brook;

Then in a northeasterly direction along the eastern bank of that brook to a point on a line perpendicular to and 100 metres, more or less, from the centre line of the Conception Bay Highway, and more specific having co-ordinates north 5 265 113 metres and east 285 936 metres;

Then in an easterly direction along a line parallel to and 100 metres from the centre line of the Conception Bay Highway for a distance of 320 metres, more or less, to a point having co-ordinates north 5 265 169 metres and east 286 252 metres;

Then north 27° 30' east 132 metres, more or less, to a point, that point being on the centre line of the Conception Bay Highway and 213.4 metres, more or less, eastward of the highway's crossing of Rodgers Brook;

Then north 47° 30' east 1,645.9 metres, more or less, to a point on the centre line of the Canadian National Railway, at which point it intersects the old Conception Bay Highway leading to Cupids;

Then north 57° 00' east 1,493.5 metres, more or less, to a point, that point being the junction of 2 secondary roads leading from Brigus to Shark's Cove;

Then north 45° 30' east 2,438.4 metres, more or less, to a point, that point being the highwater mark of Conception Bay shoreline, locally known as Black Hole;

Then following the sinuosities of the shoreline in a general southerly direction passing Brigus Head, North Head, Brigus Cove, Great Cove to South Point, the point of beginning.

All bearings refer to grid north, central meridian 53° west longitude, and as with distances and/or co?ordinates given are subject to approximation as delineated on the 1:2500, 1:5000 Crown Lands and Surveys Division Mapping, and 1:50,000 National Topographic Mapping.
