Vital Statistics Regulations

Under the authority of section 43.1 of the Vital Statistics Act, 2009 , the Lieutenant-Governor in Council makes the following regulations.

Short title

        1. These regulations may be cited as the Vital Statistics Regulations .

        2. In these regulations, "Act" means the Vital Statistics Act, 2009 .

Designated agent

        3. A person may be a designated agent where

             (a)  the person is a natural person;

             (b)  the person is at least 19 years of age;

             (c)  the person is designated in writing, in the form set by the minister, by the person making the designation; and

             (d)  the person

                      (i)  has known the person making the designation for at least one year and has signed a statement to that effect in the form set by the minister,

                     (ii)  is a lawyer acting on behalf of the person making the designation, or

                    (iii)  satisfies the registrar general that they are acting on behalf of or employed by a government, charitable or non-profit organization providing social support or social services to the person making the designation and has signed a statement to that effect in the form set by the minister.
