NLR 74/23 - Ragged Beach Land Reserve Order under the Lands Act

Short title

1. This Order may be cited as the Ragged Beach Land Reserve Order .

Purpose

2. The Ragged Beach Land Reserve is established for the purpose of protecting the Witless Bay Ecological Reserve from the potential impacts of future development.

4. The Ragged Beach Land Reserve is established for a 10 year period.

Schedule

All that piece or parcel of land situated southeast of Witless Bay, in the electoral district of Ferryland, in the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador, bounded and abutted as follows:

Commencing at a point on the low water mark of Ragged Beach having grid coordinates of east 319 114 meters and north 5 235 755 meters, more or less;

Then heading in a southwest direction to a point being the southeast corner parcel of land as registered with Crown Lands as Quieting of Titles number 830, having grid coordinates of east 319 074 meters and north 5 235 735 meters, more or less;

Then heading in a southwest direction along land registered with Crown Lands as Quieting of Titles number 830, to a point being the northeast corner of land issued by Crown Lands as registered in Volume 333, Folio 103, having grid coordinates of east 318 991 meters and north 5 235 724 meters, more or less;

Then heading in a southeast direction along land registered with Crown Lands in Volume 333, Folio 103, to a point being the southeast corner of land issued by Crown Lands as registered in Volume 333, Folio 103 and also being the northeast corner of land issued by Crown Lands as registered in Volume 253, Folio 53, having grid coordinates of east 318 998 meters and north 5 235 637 meters, more or less;

Then heading in a southwest direction along land registered with Crown Lands in Volume 253, Folio 53, to a point being the most southerly corner of land issued by Crown Lands as registered in Volume 253, Folio 53, having grid coordinates of east 318 959 meters and north 5 235 614 meters, more or less;

Then heading in a northwest direction along land registered with Crown Lands in Volume 253, Folio 53, to a point being the most westerly corner of land issued by Crown Lands as registered in Volume 253, Folio 53, having grid coordinates of east 318 853 meters and north 5 235 652 meters, more or less;

Then heading in a northeast direction along land registered with Crown Lands in Volume 253, Folio 53, to a point being the most northerly corner of land issued by Crown Lands as registered in Volume 253, Folio 53 and also being the southwest corner of land issued by Crown Lands as registered in Volume 333, Folio 103, having grid coordinates of east 318 893 meters and north 5 235 674 meters, more or less;

Then heading in a northeast direction along land registered with Crown Lands in Volume 333, Folio 103, to a point being the northwest corner of land issued by Crown Lands as registered in Volume 333, Folio 103 and also being the southwest corner of land registered with Crown Lands as Quieting of Titles number 830, having grid coordinates of east 318 901 meters and north 5 235 712 meters, more or less;

Then heading in a northwest direction along land registered with Crown Lands as Quieting of Titles number 830, to a point having grid coordinates of east 318 893 meters and north 5 235 783 meters, more or less;

Then heading in a northwest direction to a point being the southeast corner of land as registered with Crown Lands in Volume 340, Folio 18 having grid coordinates of east 318 855 meters and north 5 235 800 meters, more or less;

Then heading in a northwest direction along land registered with Crown Lands in Volume 340, Folio 18, to a point being the most westerly corner of land issued by Crown Lands as registered in Volume 340, Folio 18, having grid coordinates of east 318 830 meters and north 5 235 812 meters, more or less;

Then heading in a northeast direction along land registered with Crown Lands in Volume 340, Folio 18, to a point being the most northerly corner of land issued by Crown Lands as registered in Volume 340, Folio 18, having grid coordinates of east 318 843 meters and north 5 235 845 meters, more or less;

Then heading in a northeast direction to a point having grid coordinates of east 318 844 meters and north 5 235 848 meters, more or less;

Then heading in a northwest direction to a point having grid coordinates of east 318 830 meters and north 5 235 862 meters, more or less;

Then heading in a southwest direction to a point having grid coordinates of east 318 653 meters and north 5 235 614 meters, more or less;

Then heading in a southeast direction to a point having grid coordinates of east 319 639 meters and north 5 234 314 meters, more or less;

Then heading in a southeast direction to a point being the low water mark of Ragged Beach, having grid coordinates of east 320 190 meters and north 5 233 847 meters, more or less;

Then heading in an irregular northwest direction following the low water mark of the shoreline of Ragged Beach more or less, to the point of commencement.

The above described piece or parcel of land contains a total area of approximately seventy-five (75) hectares, more or less, as depicted in the Provincial Land Use Atlas.

Reserving nonetheless out of the above described parcel of land, a parcel of land issued by Crown Lands as registered in Volume 18, Folio 9

The above described parcel is subject to all reservations, easements, rights-of-way as necessary and those required by law, conditions held in original Crown titles and all rights and privileges held in lands lawfully alienated from the Crown.

All bearings and coordinates being referenced to the meridian of fifty-three degrees west longitude of zone 1 for the Modified Three Degree Transverse Mercator Projection (NAD 83).
