EXPLANATORY NOTES This Bill would amend the Forestry Act to provide that a timber scaler's certificate expires 5 years after the date of issuance and that applications for renewal of a timber scaler's certificate must be made within 3 years of the expiry of the certificate.

S.130 R&S Be it enacted by the Lieutenant-Governor and House of Assembly in Legislative Session convened, as follows: RSNL1990 cF-23 1. Section 129 of the Forestry Act is repealed and the following substituted: Renewal of certificate 129. (1) A scaler's certificate expires 5 years after the date on
which it was issued. (2) A person who holds or
has held a scaler's certificate under this Part is entitled, upon application
to the board and payment of the required fee, to receive a renewal of a scaler's
certificate for a further 5 year term. 2. Section 130 of the Act is repealed and the following substituted: Ineligibility for renewal of certificate 130. Where a person who was issued a scaler's certificate fails to make an application for a renewal of the certificate within 3 years after the certificate has expired, the board shall not renew the scaler's certificate. ©Queen's Printer |
