“WHEREAS free and open access to Government information is essential to the function of the democratic process;

 

WHEREAS publicly held and publicly funded information should be released to the public unless there is a clear and sufficient reason to keep the matter confidential;

 

WHEREAS this Government has amended the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (ATIPPA) through Bill 29 which has created new and expansive categories of secret information.

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this House urges Government to repeal Bill 29.”

 

5. C MR. DWIGHT BALL (Humber Valley) C To Move:

 

         “WHEREAS the electricity market of Newfoundland and Labrador is a monopoly where ratepayers have no choice in their preferred electricity supplier;

 

         AND WHEREAS robust, independent regulation assures ratepayers that they will have access to electrical power at the lowest possible cost consistent with reliable service;

 

         AND WHEREAS electricity is an essential commodity for domestic and commercial use and the oversight of the cost of its service is in the public interest;

 

         THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this House endorses the principle of independent electrical utility regulation for the establishment of electricity rates in the Province to protect the interests of provincial ratepayers.”

QUESTIONS

 

         27. C MS. GERRY ROGERS (St. John's Centre) – To ask the Honourable the Minister of Health and Community Services if her Department will eliminate the age restriction and extend the insulin pump program to all people who need it.

 

         28. C MS. GERRY ROGERS (St. John's Centre) – To ask the Honourable the Minister of Child, Youth and Family Services, Responsible for the Status of Women to table in this House the gender equity policy and/or directive for appointments to boards, commissions and tribunals.

 

         29. C MR. ANDREW PARSONS (Burgeo - LaPoile) – To ask the Honourable the Minister of Advanced Education & Skills to lay on the Table of the House a list of the uptake of those projects approved under Round 1 of the 2012 Job Creation Partnership program (originally slated for notification March 19-23, 2012 but announced in June 2012), identifying which successful applicants made use of their JCP funding (indicating organization, project, community, electoral district and funding amount spent, as well as the total amount spent provincially as well as totals spent in each district for Round 1).

 

         30. C MR. ANDREW PARSONS (Burgeo - LaPoile) – To ask the Honourable the Minister of Advanced Education & Skills to lay on the Table of the House a list of those projects approved under Round 2 of the 2012 Job Creation Partnership program (originally slated for notification June 11-15, 2012) identifying each organization, project, the community and electoral district each organization is based in, the date range in which organizations were notified, as well as a total amount awarded in Round 2 as well as totals for each electoral district for Round 2.

 

         31. C MR. ANDREW PARSONS (Burgeo - LaPoile) – To ask the Honourable the Minister of Advanced Education & Skills to lay on the Table of the House a list of the those projects approved under Round 3 of the 2012 Job Creation Partnership program (originally slated for notification September 3-7, 2012) identifying which organization, project, community and electoral district each organization is based in, the date range in which organizations were notified, as well as a total amount awarded in Round 3 as well as totals for each electoral district for Round 3.

 

         32. C MR. ANDREW PARSONS (Burgeo - LaPoile) – To ask the Honourable the Minister of Advanced Education & Skills to lay on the Table of the House (in the event that Round 3 of the 2012 Job Creation Partnership program is not yet finalized) a document outlining anticipated notification dates and whether the entire $3 million earmarked for Round 3 by the Minister during Estimates 2012 will be allocated for Round 3.
