2. C THE HONOURABLE THE MINISTER OF SERVICE NL C To ask leave to introduce a Bill entitled, “An Act To Amend Various Acts Of The Province Respecting Appointments To Boards, Councils And Tribunals”. (Bill No. 47)

 

3. C HON KATHY DUNDERDALE (Virginia Waters) C To Move

 

         THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this House now supports the development of the Muskrat Falls Hydro project.”

 

4. C MR. DWIGHT BALL (Humber Valley) C To Move

 

         “WHEREAS the Board of Commissioners of Public Utilities has the mandate through the Electrical Power Control Act Board to ensure that the Province shall have the most efficient production, transmission and distribution of power at the lowest possible cost consistent with reliable service;

 

         AND WHEREAS the proposed development of Muskrat Falls will have profound effects on the rates paid by electricity users of the Province for decades to come;

 

 

         THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this House of Assembly calls upon the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador to compel Nalcor to submit the proposed Muskrat Falls development to the Board of Commissioners of Public Utilities for a complete and unrestricted review.”

“WHEREAS free and open access to Government information is essential to the function of the democratic process;

 

WHEREAS publicly held and publicly funded information should be released to the public unless there is a clear and sufficient reason to keep the matter confidential;

 

WHEREAS this Government has amended the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (ATIPPA) through Bill 29 which has created new and expansive categories of secret information.

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this House urges Government to repeal Bill 29.”
