6. – THE HONOURABLE THE GOVERNMENT HOUSE LEADER – To Move:

“WHEREAS in accordance with subsection 38(1) of the House of Assembly Accountability, Integrity and Administration Act, the Commissioner for Legislative Standards has submitted a report respecting his opinion on a matter referred to him under the authority of subsection 36(1) of that Act;

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this House of Assembly concur in The Parsons Report of June 25, 2019”.

 

7. – MR. ELVIS LOVELESS (Fortune Bay – Cape La Hune) – To Move:

“WHEREAS the Premier's Task Force on Improving Educational Outcomes and the Education Action Plan both recommended developing a phased-in implementation plan for Junior Kindergarten;

 

            AND WHEREAS Ontario, the Northwest Territories and Nova Scotia have implemented or are in the process of implementing province-wide junior kindergarten;

 

            AND WHEREAS play-based learning promotes children's natural sense of curiosity and discovery through hands-on exploration of the world around them;

 

            THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this Honourable House supports the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador in taking necessary steps towards establishing a Junior Kindergarten program”.

 

8. – MS. SARAH STOODLEY (Mount Scio) – To Move:

“WHEREAS community organizations across the Province make significant contributions in various aspects of community life, such as mental health supports, the arts, and school meal programs;

 

AND WHEREAS the community sector is a major contributor to the Province's economy;

 

AND WHEREAS the community sector directly employs 16,000 people across the Province;

 

AND WHEREAS the Community Sector Workplan was developed in collaboration with representatives from 17 various community sector groups in order to advance their social and economic contributions to the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador;

 

AND WHEREAS the Community Sector Council's Summit stressed the importance of strengthened cooperation between Government and the Community Sector;

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this Honourable House continue to work together with the Community Sector Council and its members to advance the role of the community sector groups across the Province”.
