Town of Fortune Order
under the
Municipalities Act
(O.C. 96-170)

Under the authority of section 3 of the Municipalities Act and the Subordinate Legislation Revision and Consolidation Act , the Lieutenant-Governor in Council makes the following Order.

Short title

        1. This Order may be cited as the Town of Fortune Order .

        2. The boundaries of the Town of Fortune are as set out in the Schedule.

Repeal

        3. Newfoundland Regulation 642/78 is repealed.

Schedule

Beginning at a steel pipe set in concrete at a point 10 metres from the top of the bank above the highwater mark (Yellow Rocks) on the south side of Fortune Bay;

Then running south 35° 36' east a distance of 709.48 metres, more or less, to a steel pipe set in concrete on Boundary Hill, a rocky outcrop, with an elevation of 83 metres, more or less, and with a latitude of 47° 05' 06.228" north and a longitude of 55° 47' 29.283" west;

Then turning and running south 3° 54' west a distance of 1,659.76 metres, more or less, to a steel pipe grouted in concrete on the summit of the Round Hill, a rocky outcrop, with an elevation of 91 metres, more or less;

Then turning and running south 28° west a distance of 4,875 metres, more or less, to the highest point on Fortune Hill (Fortune Tolt);

Then turning and running south 53° west a distance of 7,325 metres, more or less, to the highest point on Middle Ridge;

Then turning and running north 45° west a distance of 2,750 metres, more or less, to the highest point on LeBeach Path Hill;

Then turning and running south 63° west a distance of 1,775 metres, more or less, to the highest point on LeBeach Hill;

Then turning and running north 9° east a distance of 1,225 metres, more or less, to a point where a small brook runs into LeBeach Cove;

Then running in a generally northeasterly direction along the shoreline of Fortune Bay to the point of commencement.

All bearings are referred to the true meridian.
