History of the Standings in the 48th General Assembly

After the General Election held on November 30, 2015 there were 31 Liberal Members, 7 Progressive Conservative Members, and 2 New Democratic Members returned to the House of Assembly.

Members were officially sworn or affirmed into office on December 18, 2015.

On May 19, 2016, Mr. Paul Lane sat as an Independent/Non-Affiliated Member.

On October 11, 2017, Mr. Steve Kent resigned his seat in the district of Mount Pearl North.

On November 21, 2017, Mr. Jim Lester won the by-election in the district of Mount Pearl North. He was sworn into office on December 7, 2017.

On April 26, 2018, it was announced Mr. Eddie Joyce would sit as an Independent/Non-Affiliated Member.

On April 30, 2018, it was announced Mr. Dale Kirby would sit as an Independent/Non-Affiliated Member.

On August 21, 2018, Ms. Cathy Bennett resigned her seat in the district of Windsor Lake.

On September 20, 2018, Mr. Ches Crosbie won the by-election in the district of Windsor Lake. He was sworn into office on October 12, 2018.

On November 2, 2018, Mr. Paul Davis resigned his seat in the district of Topsail - Paradise.

On January 24, 2019, Mr. Paul Dinn won the by-election in the district of Topsail - Paradise. He was affirmed into office on February 19, 2019.

The 48th General Assembly was dissolved on April 17, 2019. A General Election will take place on May 16, 2019.
