Profile

Sherry Gambin-Walsh was born and raised in Placentia. She graduated from the General Hospital School of Nursing in 1990 and holds a certificate in leadership from Memorial University of Newfoundland. She has held numerous leadership positions in her employment and the nonprofit sector. Sherry worked as a Neonatal Nurse and as the Executive Director for the Newfoundland and Labrador Association for Community Living. Her volunteer non-profit work is lengthy and includes the Autism Society of Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) and the Avalon Gateway Regional Economic Development Board. She was elected to the House of Assembly for the District of Placentia - St. Mary's in 2015, 2019 and 2021. She has held portfolio's as the Minister of Children, Seniors and Social Development, the Minister Responsible for the Status of Persons with Disabilities, the Minister Responsible for the NL Housing Corporation, the Minister of Service NL, the Minister Responsible for Workplace NL and Purchasing and Procurement. Sherry carried forward her advocacy skills from community to politics.
